I have sold some e-books in the past and can tell you it is so much easier than traditional shipping. I used to have to go to the post office everyday and stand in long lines. And let's not forget the high shipping costs. Ship a book around the world or digitally download it, the choice is easy for me.

Digital media is convenient.  You could bring your whole library with you on the road to read at your leisure.  And you're right about distribution.  You can easily make the best seller list with a few clicks of the mouse.  The bad side is that people could just as easily "share" your ebook with others.  Then you'd be losing out in the long run.

Dead tree editions (fancy name for real books) were nice.  If a friend likes your new read he'd go out and buy his own copy.  But with digital media it's just a quick download from electronic device to another.

What formats for ebooks come in?

Mostly pdf files.  It would be nice if there was some way to lock an ebook to one customer.  Or electronic device.  The problem would be it would be inconvenient especially if you bring a different device each day.  Or you could have some sort of "reader" program to work with a coded ebook.

 Currently there are too many people selling ebooks to try and making money online.  A lot of so-called "successful" ebooks are just reselling the ebooks that someone has already created. Many of the tips and guides that are provided in ebooks are either too old, stolen, rewritten, recycled, or not suitable for all countries.  

Although there are still some of the good ebooks out there, you have to be very cautious and do research before purchasing it.  There are many scamming activities out there.  I think you can still try reselling some successful ebooks if you have confidence in the contents and purchased resale rights.

I must say that some were useful to me but most were repeating the same things again and again. Especially some books about making money from adsense. They are repeating the same stuff again and again and giving the same details under different names.
